Here comes.... Weight Loss!

Hey everybody!  I'm back! (This is the part of the story where you applaud).  Sorry for the lack of posts in recent months, laziness affects more and more people each year (we need to raise awareness).  The good thing is, Operation BANE is back into effect.  I gained some weight back, but hey, its coming off.  I joined 24 Hour Fitness and got myself a trainer.  I started at 309lbs (uh-oh), but hey! I'm making a comeback.  Even though there is a definite ebb and flow of workout schedules and eating right, I'm still making progress. I'm down to 291 (Holy 18lbs Batman!).  The 290 threshold, or wall as runners would say, is going down this week, I can feel it.  When I first started this blog, I doubt that I was "in it to win it"(ABC Family, don't sue me for copyright infringement.  Eating right is a hard thing to do, but I'm starting to get a hold of it.  With a trainer and a new plan of attack, be ready to see some results.  Plus side, I can bench 200lbs and can hold a 165lb person over my head (Bane style.... hence the name).  The mental side of the game has been the hardest part for me lately.  Life is full of crap, and it gets heaped on all the time.  To a guy like me, who eats when he feels sad or down, that causes problems.  Emotions get in the way, and next thing you know, your balls deep in some chicken mcnuggets (not me though, 6 weeks off soda or fast food).  But, I think something has changed, because I'm starting to recognize the problems arising, and hopefully, I can be preemptive and stop any negative repercussions.  To anyone out there who feels trapped or they can't see a goal through, let me tell you, just keep going at it.  I'll admit, I've gone a little nuts in my time.  A few weeks ago I took down like 4 Chipotle Burritos in 2 days (Damn you delicious flavors).  Whereas I would spiral down in the past (hence a few months of not blogging), I treat every day separately.  I try to get back on the train the next day, and it makes you feel good inside.

Workout Notes:
So lately I've tried something fun and its working.  Every day (weekends count as a day) I get on the elliptical for 45 in to an hour.  At first, it sucked, I won't lie to you.  After a while though, I started looking forward to it.  Now, I love the elliptical.  I still can't run for a while (knee surgery), but when I start again, you bet your ass I'm gonna be working my butt up and down that field.  I'm so pumped for Rugby to start up again.

Have a great day readers!  Make every day count, and remember: The only mistake you'll ever make is not learning from your mistakes.

But Baby It's Cold Outside...

Hey there readers, Happy Snow Day.  For some its a fun fun fun in the not so apparent Sun Day, but for some people (like me), its a blessing and a curse.  Good news: you can stay inside, bad news, its hard to go outside, much less summon up the strength to go to the gym.  Well, there is good news to be had, if you have an area that's roughly 10 sq feet, you can work out.  What stinks is that you don't have a full utility of weight lifting gear.  Luckily, I have a set of 2 15lb dumbells, which equals (stick with me here) a workout.  Instead of Hi-weight low-rep workouts at the gym, you can switch to low-weight hi-rep.  Trust me, it'll hurt, and you won't be able to lift your arms, but hell, you'll feel great afterwords, knowing that you manned (or womanned) up and got in a good workout.  Now you can sit around, play Skyrim and watch Mad Men (all at the same time) like a man.

Try and do these in a circuit 3 times, rest if you need to
Sit Ups = 1x20
Push Ups = 1x10
Standing Hammer Curls = 1x20 on each arm
One-Arm Dumbbell Rows = 1x20 each arm
Dumbbell Kickbacks = 1x20
Bent Over Lat Raises = 1x20
Alternating Dumbbell Press = 1x20
Tricep Press = 1x20
Concentration Curls = 1x20
Goblet Squats = 1x20

Do this three times, and you'll look like Richard Nixon during his televised speeches.  Now this is going to make you really hungry afterwords, and if you want some protein, I got some good news for you.  This recipe comes from a good friend of mine Gabi.  It's delicious and nutritious.
2 Cans Tuna
Light Mayo
Sirachia Hot Sauce
Banana Peppers
Diced Red Onion
Jalepenos
Spinach (alot of it)
Instructions:
Really? Just mix it all in a bowl and enjoy

Queue The Scrolling Titles: It's Time for some Exposition

Hey there readers, its time for a real post (and there was much rejoicing).  Anyways, lets start at the beginning, and by the beginning, I mean about a year ago.  Ever heard of the Freshman 15? Yes.  Well lets multiply that by about 3, and then, in our minds, lets add that weight on to a person.  Who? you guessed it, me!  Nothing tastes better than Panda Express at 2AM, and why not garnish that with a 6 pack of beer!  Its Scrumdidilyumptious, and also jam packed with Calories, MSG, and Shame!  Suffice it to say, I gained a lot of weight.  A lot, in fact it was 319 lbs.  As much as I love big fluffy forest creatures (i.e Bears) I don't enjoy weighing as much as one.  New scene: Enter an Angel: this angel being my Aunt.  She tells me about this wonderful system called weight watchers (Charles Barkley got nothing on me!).  With the financial backing of some lovely grandparents, I joined it.  Now to be fair, I didn't follow the program to a T, but I did lose a good amount of weight, over 50.  Enter the problem: I left weight watchers, and boy did those cheeseburgers taste better after that.  But, as your local Doctor can tell you, overeating is bad.  I have promptly gained most of that weight back, and am currently sitting a little under 300 (Great Movie, not so great feeling).  Any who, I've decided to make a change, and I'd like to call this OPERATION BANE (The blog title makes sense now).  You may be wondering what it stands for, well boys and girls, I'll tell ya.
BAD
ASS
NEW
EXISTENCE

Now that sounds like fun right? right?  It is for the most part, but oh how I will miss the pasta!  This new system will help me better my life.  I am going to Lose Weight, stop feeling sad all the time, and get a better life.  Better yet, I'm gonna tell you how I do it. fun fun fun.

The Inaugural Post, i.e Welcome!

Hey there friends and family, and you all around casual readers.  My name is Tyler Collinson, I live in Littleton CO, and I am currently 21 years old.  That may all seem well and nice, but it is irrelevant.  Whats relevant to this blog is that I am currently overweight and more or less depressed.  You may be asking yourselves, "Gee, why would this guy want to broadcast this?"  Well my dear friends, there is a light at the end of the tunnel: I have decided to end this current trend of corpulence and sadness. And, you guessed right kids, I've decided to chronicle this journey for all of you (Hold your Applause).  The hope of this is to educate, and possibly inspire others, and also (selfishly) to be able to hold myself accountable to everything I do (aha! the plot thickens).  Every few days or so, I'm gonna write a nice little post, explaining my journey, and possibly share some helpful hints.  If you remained a reader thus far (congratulations), please continue, and feel free to comment.  All right readers, on your mark, get set, go!
